CIC Students Win the Abu Al-Abbas Award at the Inaugural International Media Creativity Competition

CIC has achieved a significant milestone with its project “Aida” being awarded the Abu Al-Abbas Special Award in the inaugural International Media Creativity Competition.

This award was established by the Board of Trustees of the Media and Digital Transformation Foundation, led by Dr. Abdel-Jawad Abou Kab. It honors the memory of Basel Abu Al-Abbas Mohamed, a talented young journalist with the French News Agency, who tragically passed away recently at the age of 36 due to a heart attack.

In a statement issued at the time of the award’s announcement, the foundation emphasized the profound loss to Egyptian journalism with Abu Al-Abbas’s untimely departure. They described him as a unique figure known for his dedication, effort, and excellence, noting that he was a standout presence in the French News Agency’s offices across the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in the regional office in Nicosia. Despite his youth, he garnered significant acclaim for his reporting, particularly during his tenure as the agency’s correspondent in Sudan.

The Media and Digital Transformation Foundation has confirmed that Abu Al-Abbas’s legacy will be commemorated during the awards ceremony for the International Media Creativity Competition, scheduled for October.

Celebrating Omar Akram: A CIC Success Story

At CIC, we are proud of how we help our students grow and succeed in their studies and careers. Omar Akram, a senior Computer Science student with a GPA of 3.2, shows the hard work and success that CIC encourages.

Omar’s journey with us started unusually. He joined CIC through late advising, transferring from another university during his first year. He just met the minimum grade to enter the Faculty of Computer Science, but his determination and hard work set him on a path to success.

From the beginning, Omar faced many challenges. However, our dedicated professors and teaching assistants supported him every step of the way. Their guidance and encouragement helped him get through his first year with confidence, building a strong foundation for his future.

In his second year, Omar attended a conference at CIC where he learned about the Huawei ICT Competition. He was excited and participated in the 2022 competition, but did not make it to the final stages. Even so, Omar’s determination only grew stronger.

March 2023 was a big moment in Omar’s academic journey. He was appointed as the Huawei ICT Academy Ambassador at CIC. In this role, he improved his own skills and also inspired his peers to learn about Huawei’s programs and their support for students.

In November 2023, Omar had another proud moment when he presented at the Huawei ICT Competition conference held at CIC. His inspiring presentation motivated many of his friends to join and compete. With more experience and determination, Omar entered the Huawei ICT Competition again. This time, his hard work paid off, and he won the Grand Prize in the regional phase held in Tunisia.

Omar’s journey did not stop there. Two months later, he travelled to China for the global finals, competing against 164 teams from over 80 countries. His dedication and hard work led him to win first prize in the global finals, marking the proudest moment and greatest achievement of his academic career.

We are very proud of you Omar and we hope that your story inspires other students to pursue their dreams with determination and make the most of every chance they get.

The CIC honored the esteemed artist Mohamed Sobhy

The CIC hosted the greatest artist Mohamed Sobhy yesterday in a seminar under the name of “The Role of Culture and Art in Human Development” as part of the launch of the “We Are All Egyptians” campaign, which returned after ten years to be held in all Egyptian universities, with the aim of spreading awareness of societal culture among young people.

CIC was chosen as the first destination to launch the campaign due to its constant keenness to lead all cultural and media events and seminars.

During the session the artist Mohamed Sobhy emphasized the importance of the role of art in changing society, specifically shedding light on the role of women in dramatic works. He stressed the importance of highlighting the positive aspects of society and stopping the export of negative images about Egyptian society through cinema and television. He also spoke with CIC students about the history of the creation of the city of Sunbul and how its idea is linked to ordinary citizens who believed in his artistic works, as well as the importance of connecting artistic works to ordinary citizens to give them hope for development and change.

He continued talking about his happiness with the future vision of Egypt 2030 and the importance of the role of youth and students in achieving this vision through work and adherence to Egyptian values, morals, and constant pride in the Arabic language.

The floor was then opened for direct questions from students, including the role of people with special needs. Mohamed Sobhy emphasized in his response his constant demand to change the name from “people with special needs” to “people with exceptional abilities” because he believes in their active participation in society.

He also mentioned during the event the war that is happening now in  “Palestine” and how he witnessed the events of the occupation of Palestine since its beginning in 1948, expressing his intense anger and sadness from childhood, which encouraged him to support the Palestinian cause in his artistic works

The Wait for The Royal Parade is Finally Over!

As an educational institution, we couldn’t pass this Parade without stressing on the importance of such an event.

The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly decided that on Monday April 3, 2021, with the Ministerial Committee for Tourism and Antiquities, final arrangements for the royal procession that will transfer 22 mummies ,18 kings and four queens, dating back to the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties of ancient Egypt’s kings and queens to their new home the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC).

Ramadan Around the World

Ramadan Around the World

The holy Month of Ramadan isn’t just about fasting, it’s the month of Forgiveness, sharing and gathering.

Throughout history, Every country created a traditional way to celebrate Ramadan, Traditional food, drinks, decorations and even traditional customs.

Here are the top 5 traditions celebrated around the middle east.

FAWANEES IN EGYPT

The Fanous or Fanoos is an Egyptian folk used to decorate streets and homes in the month of Ramadan,Every child will carry a colorful fanous while excitedly singing and roaming the streets during the holy month.

It is said that the origins of the fanous was by the Egyptians, When they were ordered by the military to carry candles at that time, which they put in wooden frames to light up the dark as they greeted the caliph Al-Muizz li-Din Allah on the first day of Ramadan in Cairo.

THE MESAHARATY

One of the most common traditions in Ramadan is the mesaharaty.

The mesaharaty is a man who wanders the streets to wake people up for Suhoor, (the meal before dawn in Ramadan), he often calls out the names of the people while beating a drum.

This tradition goes back when a companion of the Prophet Mohamed would roam the streets at dawn singing melodious prayers. The sounds of these prayers swept through the streets, spreading an air of tranquility and gratitude as believers woke up from their slumber to prepare

for the fast

Gargee’an in Eastern Arabia

In the gold area, Gargee’an celebrations start on the night of 15 Ramadan,

Gargee’an is a religious tradition that is a little like the US Halloween tradition of trick or treat. It is part and parcel of Emirati culture and identity, and it helps to raise awareness about the holy month.

Other Gulf countries also celebrate this tradition when children put on bright clothes, collect candy and nuts in their tote bags, and sing jubilant Ramadan songs while wandering their neighborhoods. One of the songs is Aatona Allah Yutikom, Bait Makkah Yudikum (Give to us so that Allah will reward you and help you to visit His House in Mecca).

MIDFAA AL-IFTAR IN LEBANON

In many Arab countries, cannons are fired at sunset during the holy month to announce Iftar.

This tradition started in Egypt centuries ago during the rule of the Ottoman ruler Khosh Qadam, Until now Lebanon still uses the old tradition of Midfaa Al-Iftar to announce the end of the fast. The older generations of Lebanese say the tradition makes them nostalgic for their childhood.

MHEIBES IN IRAQ

After Iftar, a large number of Iraqis meet up to play mheibes (rings).

This traditional, male-dominated Ramadan game requires two teams ranging from 40 to 250 players. At the beginning of the game, the leader carrying the ring should hand it to another player without drawing others’ attention. The opposing team has to decide where the ring is by deciphering body language.

It’s Fascinating how each country has its own way of celebrating Ramadan.

Let us know if your country celebrates Ramadan differently!

I’m a woman. What’s your superpower?

As we all know that on the 8th of March we celebrate Women’s international day, but Women’s History is more than just a celebration in the month of March. Throughout the years, history has seen some intelligent, powerful and inspirational women who have been pioneers for women’s rights and racial equality and have added to the worlds of science, mathematics and literature.

The famous women in this list are remembered for being the rule-breakers that showed their male peers what it means to be role models. Here are our top 4 most inspirational women from history and the invaluable lessons they taught us.

1)Hatshepsut

Hatshepsut was the longest-reigning female pharaoh in Egypt, ruling for 20 years in the 15th century B.C. She is considered one of Egypt’s most successful pharaohs. She served as queen alongside her husband, Thutmose II, but after his death, she claimed the role of pharaoh while acting as regent to her step-son, Thutmose III. She reigned peaceably, building temples and monuments, resulting in the flourishing of Egypt. After her death, Thutmose III erased her inscriptions and tried to eradicate her memory.

As pharaoh, Hatshepsut expanded Egyptian trade and oversaw ambitious building projects, most notably the Temple of Deir el-Bahri, located in western Thebes, where she would be buried. Depicted (at her own orders) as a male in many contemporary images and sculptures, Hatshepsut remained largely unknown to scholars until the 19th century. She is one of the few and most famous female pharaohs of Egypt.

2)Queen Elizabeth I

Elizabeth called herself ‘The Virgin Queen’ because she chose to marry her country instead of a man. It might seem like ancient history now, but Queen Elizabeth I is one of the most successful monarchs in British history, and under her rule, England became a major European power in politics, commerce and the arts.

Elizabeth is one of the greatest female leaders. Known for her intelligence, ‘The Virgin Queen’ was one truly one of the great women in history as she claimed the throne in 1558 at the age of 25 and held it until her death 44 years later. She was born a princess but declared illegitimate through political machinations.

During her reign, Elizabeth I established Protestantism in England ,maintained peace inside her previously divided country and created an environment where the arts flourished. Her reign was sometimes referred to as England’s Golden Age or Elizabethan England, an era of peace and prosperity when the arts had a chance to blossom with Elizabeth’s support.

3)A Nobel Peace Prize winner at the age of 17! (Malala Yousafzai)

Malala Yousafzai was born in Pakistan on July 12, 1997. Yousafzai’s father was a teacher and ran an all-girls school in her village, however when the Taliban took over her town they enforced a ban on all girls going to school. In 2012, at the age of 15, Malala publicly spoke out on women’s rights to education and as a result, a gunman boarded her school bus and shot the young activist in the head.

Malala survived.

Yousafzai moved to the UK where she has become a fierce presence on the world stage and became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, at 17 years old. Malala is currently studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford.

4) Amelia Earhart

Amelia Earhart was the definition of a rule breaker. An American aviator who became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic and the first person ever to fly solo from Hawaii to the US, Amelia was a pioneering aviator and a true female trailblazer.

Earhart refused to be boxed in by her gender from a young age, born in Kansas in 1897 Amelia played basketball growing up, took auto repair courses and briefly attended college. In 1920, Earhart began flying lessons and quickly became determined to receive her pilot’s license, passing her flight test in December 1921.

Earhart set multiple aviation records, but it was her attempt at being the first person to circumnavigate the globe which led to her disappearance and presumed death. In July 1937, Earhart disappeared somewhere over the Pacific, her plane wreckage has never been found and to this day, her disappearance remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century.

Tips to boost the beginning of the new term

After “no rules” vacations it’s always hard to get back to school, schedules and assignments. We have put together seven tips we think can help you to get back on track.

  1. Get rid of last semester’s things

What type of things shall you get rid of?

You can throw away anything that isn’t useful anymore, starting from the things in your backpack and on your desk, moving on to your computer desktop, downloads folder and PDF’s to help you be ready for the new semester with everything clean and fresh.

  1. Adjust a new schedule

We know it’s hard to get back into the routine after the vacation.

But Setting up a schedule will help you get back to it. How so?

Start by having a plan. Set a few short-term and long-term goals that will help you stay focused and motivated when things get tough.

Also write down your study time and sleeping hours, and don’t forget to schedule some free time for yourself.

  1. Get involved more around Campus

The first week of the semester is the perfect time to connect with your new groups.

Go ahead and start looking for opportunities on campus such as Volunteering and internships.

You can also keep an eye on our Facebook page for more Opportunities around the Campus.

  1. Say Hi to your Professors

A great way to prepare for a new semester in college is to get to know your professors as soon as possible.

If your CIC class schedule doesn’t have your professors’ names, Head to your advisor and ask him/her about the names and the rooms of your professors.

  1. Check your CIC Email regularly

Your main source of communication at campus is your student email, So make sure to check your email account regularly so that you don’t miss any important emails about your classes and general information about your campus.

Forget your Password? don’t worry, you can reset it through our IT department.

Making the extra effort to prepare for your first few weeks of school will help set a plan for a more productive and easy semester.

And don’t forget to follow our social media accounts for more insiders around the campus.

6 Tips for Completing a Job Application!-2

We have all been in this situation before where you apply online for a job and you get rejected even before you make it to the interview.

And you have probably asked yourself before about the reason behind this rejection but you never found the answer.

Here is why we have collected some of the most common mistakes that candidates do when applying.

  • Misspellings or Grammatical errors

 Check your application before submission

Employers will draw negative conclusions about your writing skills, try using Grammarly to correct any mistakes or errors quickly for free.

  •   Paragraphs That Are Too Long

Keep your descriptions concise and focused.

Employers may not take the time to read overly dense sections of your application and could miss out on some key information.

Don’t write all of the details and the tasks that you have made, only mention your past job titles and a snippet about your job description.

th

  • Leaving a section with no answer

You have to complete all sections of the job application. Some employers will screen candidates based on application information before deciding which candidates will be interviewed.

  • Information Not Related to the Job

Don’t include any text that is not directly related to the position

Your answer should focus on why you’re the best-qualified person for the job, Don’t waste your time or the hiring manager’s time writing unnecessary information.

  • Write false experiences and information

Your application will remain part of your employee file, and any falsifications can be grounds for withdrawing a job offer or even terminating your employment.

Dishonesty and fabricated information are huge mistakes ,so avoid the temptation to make puff up.

hqdefault

  • Don’t write anything personal

Don’t write any Personal Information, Keep your focus on the professional reasons why the company should hire you, not the personal reasons.

Your goal is to convince the hiring manager that you are a qualified candidate, not to get someone to consider you because you like coffee for example.

Application Tips

Review before submitting

You may have already reviewed the application a couple of times checking for errors and following all of the instructions, you still need to make a final review of your application before submitting it.

Once you are satisfied that you have done your best, click the submit button and leave the rest to the hiring team.

Good Luck Everyone!

5 Key Factors YOU Should Consider When Applying For College

5 Key Factors YOU Should Consider When Applying For College

Selecting a college or university isn’t as simple as picking out a new phone, it can actually seem to be pretty stressful for some people.

Deciding which schools to apply to, how much you’ll need to cover the cost, and where you’ll live, all of these are factors you should consider when searching for the college experience that best suits you and your unique needs.

But don’t worry, we’re here to help you.

Here are the main 5 key factors you should keep in mind when choosing which college/university to apply to:

1) Know Your Long-Term Goals

It’s important to know what exactly you want to get out of your education before you apply to college or university.

Are you studying with a particular job in mind? What career will your education qualify you for?

2) Consider Your Major

Not every school offers every major, so before you start applying, think about what you want to study. Then you can decide which schools match your interests and avoid applying to ones that don’t have the degree program you want.

3) Inspect The Location

It’s all about location. Not all your career preparation will happen inside of the classroom, so make sure your school is located where you’ll have opportunities outside of the classroom.

Also, choose a campus that is near your home, don’t waste your time and money on transportation.

You don’t have to cross the country to have a better education, try to search for colleges that satisfy your needs across the area.

4) Compare Cost

Most universities will provide a breakdown of fees in their application documents or on their websites. Some of these fees may vary by program or department. Do your best to estimate what your annual tuition will cost. Don’t forget that you’ll also be responsible to pay other costs like an application fee, administrative costs, and students’ union fees.

5) Campus Life

Once you have narrowed the search and settled on a list of potential colleges, visit each campus in person. You can look at all of the photographs and campus videos that you like, but a virtual tour simply won’t offer the same experience that a live campus tour will.

And the most important thing when choosing a college is whether you feel comfortable on campus or not, so make sure to visit the campus, have a closer look at it and feel its vibes.

College is almost over? Here is what you should do

College Is Almost Over? Here Is What You Should Do.

12

For all final year students, the college phase in your life is almost over, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy those last days, this happy ending deserves a celebration.

So here are some of the things that you should do before leaving college.

Capture Those Last Moments

“Things may end, but memories will last forever”

Last days are always emotional, saying goodbye to your friends and Dr.s may not be the easiest thing to do.

But what you can actually do is to capture those special moments that will be in your memories for the whole lifetime.

So go ahead, take out your mobile and start capturing every moment around you.

  Plan a Trip Together.

Plan to go on a trip together at least once before this phase is over, because you never know when the next time you guys are going to be together again.

It doesn’t have to be something gigantic, maybe a Nile cruise, or a museum visit, or even a simple BBQ party would be great

Don’t Forget To Thank Your Favorite Dr.

There is always that Dr. who has been there and supported you throughout your years of studying and never asked for anything in return.

A simple thank you note would be a great gesture from you.

 Get Your C.V. Ready!

And while you’re closing the door to an old chapter of your life, don’t forget to get ready for your next chapter.

Don’t waste your time after graduation as you may have some until you find a full time job, Try getting the most out of it,  start looking for courses you’re interested in, join an internship, training or a part time job for the summer, get your C.V full of experience as much as you can, and get ready for the working adult life.

The “ISSF Shotgun World Cup” is in Egypt 2021!

Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy announced that Egypt is ready to host the World Shooting Championship, scheduled to be held from February 22 to March 5 with the participation of over 400 players representing 35 countries.

The tournament will be held in accordance with strict medical precautionary measures in order to preserve the safety of the teams and their accompanying delegations.

The journey of the ISSF World Cup began in 1986, and this World Cup counts among the most prestigious international events in shooting.

Games and matches involving shotguns can be great fun!  They are completely different from other types of sports, they are more action-packed and adrenaline-pumping. And If you are interested in shotguns, then you’re most probably going to enjoy this championship.

But before watching the ISSF Shotgun World Cup you should know the basics of the game:

There are three basic types of shotgun matches, trap, skeet, and sporting clays, and these all involve shooting small moving targets called clays.

ShootingLead_MarkTade

1)Trap

You may have seen trap shooting in the Olympics.  Shooters shoot five shots from each of five stations for a total of 25 shots per round.  During this type of match, the shooters are aiming at clay targets that are launched from a single point and fly away from the participants.  Shooters are engaging a moving target but they themselves are not moving.  Trap is a sport that is inviting to many different types of shotgun shooters.

2)Skeet

When people think of shotgun matches, Skeet is probably the first thing they think of.  Skeet is different from Trap in that the clay pigeons are “thrown” in such a way that they come from either side of the match field and generally cross in front of the shooter.  Like Trap, shooters will shoot from several different stations, although in Skeet there are eight stations.  But also like Trap, the match consists of 25 rounds.  However, the clay targets may come two at a time, Doubles or one at a time, Singles from the target launchers, called houses, or on either side of the field depending on which station the shooter is at.

3)Sporting Clays

In sporting clays, a shooter will walk through a course generally consisting of ten stations. Each station will have two targets that are thrown as a true pair or as a report pair(one thrown on pull command and one thrown on gun fire). Sporting clay courses are generally scored out of a 100.

Shotgun matches are a great way to become more familiar and better with a shotgun.  Generally, all ages can participate and being a safe shooter is the priority.  To find out more about these types of matches in your area, contact your local gun range.  Shotgun matches are usually held outdoors so an outdoor range may have the best information for you.

The basic equipment that you will need is a shotgun, appropriate shells, eye protection and hearing protection.  Each match can be a little different so don’t hesitate to contact the match director or staff and ask questions such as the type of shotgun that is best or the type of shotgun shells required.  Also, most match participants are eager to welcome and assist newer shooters so don’t worry about being a new participant.  Just get out there and shoot!
