CIC has achieved a significant milestone with its project “Aida” being awarded the Abu Al-Abbas Special Award in the inaugural International Media Creativity Competition.
This award was established by the Board of Trustees of the Media and Digital Transformation Foundation, led by Dr. Abdel-Jawad Abou Kab. It honors the memory of Basel Abu Al-Abbas Mohamed, a talented young journalist with the French News Agency, who tragically passed away recently at the age of 36 due to a heart attack.
In a statement issued at the time of the award’s announcement, the foundation emphasized the profound loss to Egyptian journalism with Abu Al-Abbas’s untimely departure. They described him as a unique figure known for his dedication, effort, and excellence, noting that he was a standout presence in the French News Agency’s offices across the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in the regional office in Nicosia. Despite his youth, he garnered significant acclaim for his reporting, particularly during his tenure as the agency’s correspondent in Sudan.
The Media and Digital Transformation Foundation has confirmed that Abu Al-Abbas’s legacy will be commemorated during the awards ceremony for the International Media Creativity Competition, scheduled for October.
