At CIC, we are proud of how we help our students grow and succeed in their studies and careers. Omar Akram, a senior Computer Science student with a GPA of 3.2, shows the hard work and success that CIC encourages.
Omar’s journey with us started unusually. He joined CIC through late advising, transferring from another university during his first year. He just met the minimum grade to enter the Faculty of Computer Science, but his determination and hard work set him on a path to success.
From the beginning, Omar faced many challenges. However, our dedicated professors and teaching assistants supported him every step of the way. Their guidance and encouragement helped him get through his first year with confidence, building a strong foundation for his future.
In his second year, Omar attended a conference at CIC where he learned about the Huawei ICT Competition. He was excited and participated in the 2022 competition, but did not make it to the final stages. Even so, Omar’s determination only grew stronger.
March 2023 was a big moment in Omar’s academic journey. He was appointed as the Huawei ICT Academy Ambassador at CIC. In this role, he improved his own skills and also inspired his peers to learn about Huawei’s programs and their support for students.
In November 2023, Omar had another proud moment when he presented at the Huawei ICT Competition conference held at CIC. His inspiring presentation motivated many of his friends to join and compete. With more experience and determination, Omar entered the Huawei ICT Competition again. This time, his hard work paid off, and he won the Grand Prize in the regional phase held in Tunisia.
Omar’s journey did not stop there. Two months later, he travelled to China for the global finals, competing against 164 teams from over 80 countries. His dedication and hard work led him to win first prize in the global finals, marking the proudest moment and greatest achievement of his academic career.
